사진 속 남성은 '맬컴 맥도널드'라는 영국인 남성입니다.
그는 2014년 회음부에 패혈증을 앓아 결국 성기를 절단해야했는데요.
하지만 보이는 것처럼 그의 왼쪽팔에는 성기가 달려있습니다. 어떻게 된 사연일까요?
사실 그의 왼쪽 팔에 달려있는 성기는 2016년 이식받은 인공성기입니다.

- 1. Experts take a vein from Malcolm's body then wrap skin grafted from his arm around it in a penis shape and attach it to his arm.
- 2. The constructed penis is then detached from the forearm. (This is the stage Malcolm has reached).
- 3. The penis is then attached to the body with a urethra, allowing him to urinate.
- 4. It is fitted with a tube - or penile implant - so it can be inflated into an erection with a hand pump. The penile implant is made up of a saline reservoir which can be pumped in and out to make it erect and flaccid via a pump in the scrotum.

그는 인공성기가 자리를 잡을 때까지 팔에 달고 있어야했죠.
우선 이식할 곳은 왼쪽 팔이 좋을 것 같습니다.

수술을 진행한 데이비드 랠프 런던대병원 교수는 성기가 없이 태어난 아이들에게 인공성기를 만들어주는 성기 이식 전문가입니다.
그렇게 2016년 팔에 이식했던 성기는 2021년 드디어 본래 자리로 찾아갑니다.
몇 차례 수술이 연기되었다가 드디어 이사갑니당~
약 5년간 팔에 성기를 달고있었던 남성은 인공성기에게 '지미'라는 이름도 붙여줬다고해요.
지미는 튜브와 수동펌프를 이용해 발기도 가능하고 원래 성기보다 5.8cm나 크답니다^^
수술을 성공한 후 맬컴 맥도널드는 이러한 소감을 남겼다고 합니다.
